Éric Salobir is the President of the Human Technology Foundation (HTF).
A Dominican priest, entrepreneur, and recognized expert in digital ethics, he works at the intersection of technology and the humanities.
A graduate of ISC Paris, he began his career at the French Embassy in Prague, within the Economic and Trade Section, before joining LCL (formerly Crédit Lyonnais) in Paris, where he worked in investment banking.
In 2000, he joined the Order of Preachers (Dominicans) and undertook studies in philosophy and theology. Through his various assignments, he developed a strong interest in new media, and subsequently in digital technologies and their societal implications, particularly in the field of artificial intelligence.
This unique background led him to found OPTIC (Order of
Preachers for Technology, Innovation and Communication) in 2012, an international research and action tank bringing together leading experts in technology, ethics, and spirituality. He now serves as an expert advisor to the Holy See.
In 2016, he founded the Human Technology Foundation, an independent international think and do tank that supports public and private decision-makers in their reflections on the ethics of digital technologies, with a view to greater respect for human rights and the well-being of populations.
He is the author of God and Silicon Valley, published in 2020.
Éric Salobir was named Chevalier of the Legion of Honour by decree of the President of the French Republic on 13 July 2023. The distinction was conferred upon him by the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs.
